2024 Painting Contractor Operational Forms

Scroll Down for SAMPLES!

Over the years, we are asked to create specific forms by our Painting Contractor customers... usually these requested forms are forms that solve a problem the painting contractor has encountered in their business operations.  Not only problems with their customers but also problems with inefficiency in their daily painting operations. ACT Contractors Forms calls these types of specific forms "Operational Forms."

For example, how often have you run into issues with your customer about "touch ups not matching or wall repairs not blending perfectly with the surrounding areas?  Usually, the problem is one of unreal expectations on the part of the customer... you know... the customer expecting more of you as a painting contractor than job conditions and paint industry technology can deliver. Let's face it... perfection is NOT POSSIBLE! In response to this, we have created an informative "hold harmless" agreement that can be added to any painting contract or can be given to the customer as their agreement if the work you are doing is primarily touch up. This agreement explains the limitations of current painting technology, explains how exact matches of paint color, paint sheen, and texture is impossible and, while you as the painting contractor will do the best job you can, that you cannot guarantee patches and touch up spots will not be visible.

Another example is existing damage on the jobsite that you get blamed for during the final walk through after you finish the work on your painting contract. And don't get it wrong, this is not usually a customer trying to "get over" on the painting contractor but rather the customer looking for problems and finding a problem that they blame on you, that was there before you even stepped foot on their property. You know, things like a small window crack in the corner of the window that was probably there years before but had gone unnoticed and that now, since they are looking very carefully because you asked them to as part of the walk through, they see and blame on you!  In response to this, we have our "Pre-Painting Inspection" form which is a list of items for the painting job foreman to go over with the customer, before any work is done on the property.  Things like the broken windows we mentioned but also broken screens, gates, fences, and other items as well as things like driveway stains and cracked concrete, existing paint drips and overspray. This form also verifies paint color BEFORE it is applied to the building and has the customer acknowledge the colors and the existing "damage" or "conditions" so they do not become a problem later on.
